"We hope you enjoy this heavily photoshopped and highly stressful family photo! "
Pastor Daniel was born in Los Angeles but spent most of his life overseas as a missionary. He moved to Florida when Nickleback was still popular and he met Ashley. At 5'11" Ashley was waiting for a man who was taller than her and when Daniel showed up at 6'2", she thought "That'll do.", and they've been happily married ever since. They helped plant a church in South West Florida and served for many years as Youth Pastors before ultimately transitioning to Lead Pastors. After several years of serving in Florida, they recognized a new season was coming. They fell in love with the city of Sugar Land the moment they visited it for the first time. Sitting in the Toasted Yolk Cafe, they began to dream about what it would be like to start a life-giving church in the city. Walking around that day and watching the families gather in the town square, they knew there was something special about Sugar Land, and it was only going to get better.
The three cheeky little dudes in the picture are Roman, Micaiah, and Titus. Yes, they are done having kids. Titus made sure of that.
To lead people forward into an empowered life in Christ.
Identify the need for progress in the individual and connect them to the momentum that comes from an encounter with Christ, model progress in our own endeavors, and develop those in our path by daily building upon the growth of what has already been invested.
1. JESUS is our message
Jesus said that "all of scripture points to him", so we believe that all we say and do must point to him as well. That's why he is our highest value and our only message. Freedom starts with him, life is found in him and purpose is discovered through him.
2. PROGRESS is our pursuit
God loves you too much to leave you like you are. His desire for you is that you step out of bondage and into freedom and ongoing growth and purpose. Lives that have been transformed by the power of God do not have the luxury of living stationary.
3. TEAM work is our engine
If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. Our people are our greatest resource. God didn't create us to be alone and we aren't supposed to do ministry alone either.
4. EXCELLENCE is our attitude
The Bible tells us that whatever we set our hands to should be done with excellence as unto the Lord. Every single thing we do as a church is done with our utmost for his glory. Our every endeavor is an act of worship.
5. HONOR is our posture
We show honor in every direction without exception. So many people have a presupposition that they would be judged the moment they walked into the doors of the church, we look forward to throwing a party as soon as we see them coming. To be a place where people from every background and every walk of life will tell their friends "I've never felt so loved".
6. GENEROSITY is our joy
We read in the book of Acts that the first church experienced wild giving. They sold all they had and gave the money to those in need and we see "God added to their number daily". We plan to turn heads with preposterous generosity.
Pastor Daniel is the primary communicator for Momentum. He loves to preach passionately and in a relevant and engaging way. Check out the link below for our most recent message at Momentum Church.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere -in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Acts 1:8
Everyone gets stuck at some point in their lives. Relationally, emotionally, and spiritually, we've all been there. Many of us have been there for a while. That place between where you want to be and where you've always been. Where all you need is some momentum.
We believe that when you meet Jesus, you are empowered by the Holy Spirit to live a changed life as a witness to who God is and what he has done. It starts off small, such as in your workplace or around your dinner table. Then it builds to a larger context, like your church or your city. Before long, the story of Jesus is making its way around the world. In scientific terms, Momentum is measured as a product of mass and velocity. In kingdom terms, Momentum is measured in changed lives and the speed of the gospel. We will see people saved, lives changed and the world reached. It starts in one christian church in one city like Sugar Land, and it spreads - until the whole world hears.
I lost my dad a couple of years ago when I was a teenager. It was hard and I went through a dark season. By God's grace, I made it. Now that I found Momentum, I am excited to be someone who can help lead others forward.
I moved here from Philly a year ago and couldn't find a church like my old one back home. When I met Pastor Daniel we discovered that he was good friends with my old Pastor. I took that as God bridging my past and present. Mind blown!
I was working at a local business and Pastor Ashley would come in all the time with her kids. There was something about her that stood out and when she told me they were planting a church, I knew my wife and I had to know more.
I grew up in Sugar Land and had a lot of painful memories in this area. When I joined Momentum Church, I just knew that God was going to redeem my story in this city and use me to bring healing to a place that had scared me.
We hold fast to the core doctrines of the historically orthodox faith. We can't know God exhaustively, but we can know Him accurately. We're unified in the big things, we don't make small things into big things, and we seek to clarify which is which through scripture.
The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is completely relevant to our daily lives.

God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Although each member of the Trinity serves different functions, they each possess equal power and authority.

God is great: He's all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, unchanging, full of justice, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, holy. It's in Him that we live, move, and exist. God is good: He's our Father. He's loving, compassionate, and faithful to His people and His promises.

Jesus Christ is completely human and at the same time completely God. He's the only plan for bringing people who are far from God back into a right relationship with God. He lived a perfect life so that He could be a substitution for us in satisfying God’s demands for perfection. He defeated death in His resurrection so that we could have life.

His presence assures us of our relationship with Christ. He guides believers into all truth and exalts Christ. He convicts people of their sin, God’s righteousness, and the coming judgment. He comforts us, gives us spiritual gifts, and makes us more like Christ.

The Church is a worldwide body of baptized believers, connected in a local community, unified through faith in Christ. It's committed to the teachings of Christ and obeying all of His commands, and it seeks to bring the Gospel to the world. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.

Man was created to exist forever. He'll exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence.
JOHN 3:16, 36; ROMANS 6:23; 1 JOHN 2:25; 5:11-13; REVELATION 20:15
People are made in the image of God and are the supreme object of His creation. People were created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, we cannot attain a right relationship with God through our own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Christian love.

We believe marriage is defined in the Bible as a covenant, a sacred bond between one man and one woman, instituted by and publicly entered into before God.
The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts.

Following faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the new convert is commanded by the Word of God to be baptized in water in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
A unique time in the presence of God when the elements of bread and grape juice (the Body and Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ) are taken in remembrance of Jesus' sacrifice on the Cross.
Honestly, FAQ pages on websites are a lie. No one asked us any of these questions yet, but we just feel like the answers might be helpful. Please reach out to Pastor Daniel personally at daniel@mymomentumchurch.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
If you've experienced boring, stuffy, dead religion before, we promise it won't be that. If you're looking for something super traditional and tranquil, we promise it won't be that either. We believe that Jesus is alive and his church should be as well. We believe that having fun is a fruit of the spirit. We take our faith seriously and ourselves lightly. We worship loud, serve passionately, and break bread often.
Wear clothes, that's all we ask. If you want to wear a suit and tie, go right ahead! Ball cap and flip flops? Why not! We have a "come as you are" policy, so wear whatever you want, except Patriots jerseys. Those are not allowed.
Momentum Church is for everyone. We know that often people have a bit of anxiety or nervousness when it comes to picking a new church. "Will I fit in?" "Will I be accepted?" "Will I be judged?" All are common questions running through people's minds. At Momentum, we do everything possible to remove any barriers we can so that you might experience a relationship with Jesus. Jesus, the gospel, and the church are for everyone. No matter where you are in you faith journey, this is a place to call home as you walk towards Christ.
Well, first off that depends on whether it's carrying coconuts or not. Now, you might be shouting "A swallow? Carrying coconuts? Where would he grip them?" To which we might respond "It’s not a question of where he grips it! It’s a simple question of weight ratios! A five-ounce bird could not carry a 1 pound coconut. However, TWO could possibly carry a coconut between them on a wire." Once we determine whether or not a coconut is involved in the migration, we can then proceed to some more pressing questions:
What exactly is airspeed velocity?
The first thing to note is that there is no actual metric called “airspeed velocity.” This is a mixture of terms, airspeed, and velocity, with the former most commonly used for things that fly, like aircraft. The combination of "speed" and "velocity" is also a little naughty as, while related, they are not the same.
Speed is a scalar metric, while velocity is a vector. In practical terms, the differences are slight but essential (especially in physics), but airspeed is the most accurate metric for our purposes.
So, airspeed is a metric that determines the relative speed between some object, in this case, the swallow and the air that it travels through. This can vary widely, but if too low, the flying creature will lose altitude and eventually become grounded (gently or violently).
To work out an airspeed, you need to subtract the difference between the ground speed and the wind speed. The former is the speed at which an object moves about a point on the ground. Wind speed is the rate of air movement about a location on the ground.
According to various studies, there is no way to know precisely how far the average swallow’s wing flap propels it, but we can estimate about 2.46 feet per beat. When we take the number of beats per second (12) and multiply it by the distance per beat (0.75), we get a value for the velocity of 29.5 feet per second .
Translating this into miles per hour, we see that the airspeed velocity of a swallow is 20.1 mph. This number also lines up with the measured velocities of real birds, which means we’re on the right track for the mathematics.
So, answering the main question here, the “airspeed velocity” of an unladen swallow is something like 20.1 miles per hour or 29.5 feet per second. However, some have been clocked at 46 mph in the past!
Thanks for asking!
Probably about 1.7%. If you ARE reading this, congratulations! You won a free coffee for being the teacher's pet!
